![]() Schiestel’s European journey then continued in the Austrian EBEL (Fehérvár AV19) and Norway (Lørenskog), before he arrived in the UK with Cardiff. The season in Germany was followed by a year in Denmark (Rungsted Seier Capital) before Schiestel returned to the United States for a short stint in the ECHL with Indy Fuel. He went on to play 247 AHL regular season and Calder Cup playoff games before turning his head to Europe, signing in one of its highest leagues, the DEL with Düsseldorfer EG. In 2010/11 he was selected as an AHL All-Star. Once junior was over, Schiestel signed a 3-year entry-level contract with the Sabres and spent this time with their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates. ![]() Upon completion of the 2006/07 OHL season, Schiestel was picked in the second round of the NHL draft, 59th overall by the Buffalo Sabres. Over 4 years he featured in 267 regular season and playoff games for the Mississauga/Niagara IceDogs collecting an impressive 132 points. ![]() Schiestel, who stands at 6’1” with a powerful left shot started his hockey journey in the OHL. It will be the 31-year-old’s second season with the organisation having joined last summer on the back of winning a playoff title with the Cardiff Devils.
